We moved out today! According to Wayne at Iowa Boys, we're "hobos" now!

We brought the truck in for its Allstate inspection - to at least get the damage on the books with my insurance company. The insurance adjuster said we could get it fixed using my insurance, rather than wait for the other driver's insurance company, and then they'd pursue getting reimbursed.
We were able to do it because there was a very impressive body shop across the street that could work within our time frame (with just a minor delay). It was all very seamless. They even had on-site car rental...I had $30/day coverage for a rental, and was able to get a truck for $4 extra so we won't have any trouble with the move out.
The going away party now is completely up in the air. We hope the trailer gets done on time, so we have a place to stay while we wait for the truck. If we can get someone to tow it for us (the rental truck doesn't have a hitch, or brake controller), we'd like to park it in front of Brian's mom's house - and then we could at least show people...
Speaking of Brian's mom's house - we stopped by yesterday and saw the girls. Martha is a happy chatty clam, and Lola is still napping under the couch, AND the two are already spoiled with morning whitefish breakfast every day!

Today Dan helped us move the heavier stuff over to storage.
From this picture, it looks like he had a lot of fun!

Today we packed up the girls and made the trek to Brian's brother's ranch in Norco. I tried really hard to tell myself that this was the right place for my needy girls, but people there have cat allergies and the girls wouldn't be able to go in the house. I tried to ignore it, but I knew in my gut it was not the right home for them, and after about 10 minutes decided I would rather they go with strangers who could cuddle them indoors.
After some tears (surprise) all turned out for the best - Brian's mom Marcia generously offered her home! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! xoL

Martha & Ollie - new friends?

The Iowa Boys are really working hard to get the airstream finished by our departure date. We stopped by today to drop of some fabric and were surprised to see that Wayne had already started building the base of the booth! It looks really great!
While we were there, the guys who are laying the linoleum floor showed up. They started laying down a thin smooth layer of wood over the entire plywood sub-floor so they would have a perfectly flat surface to glue the linoleum.
Monday the booth is going over to the upholstery guy.
All of the windows have been removed so that they can be cleaned up and new weatherstripping can be installed.
Sorry no pictures today, when we got home the .jpg files on the card were corrupted...we have no idea how this happened. Tomorrow the cats go to their new home out in Riverside.
:(

We were approaching the stop sign as he was making a wide turn onto the street. I stopped about 150 yards from the stop sign because he was taking up the entire road. He continued to drive and for some reason thought he could squeeze through.

The damage is just cosmetic. I don't expect to get it fixed before we leave. I figure we'll get a check once we're long gone and get it fixed in some major city.
We went out for breakfast this morning and saw this cool cake at Auntie Em's in Eagle Rock - it has a gorilla, and a hippo, and some other wild animals on it. (photo taken with my camera phone)
We also received ROADFOOD in the mail from Carl and Richard at Triangle Research (guys I've been working with the last 3 years). THANK YOU! xoL
I just added a link to the left side, under our picture for approximate current location. For some reason I can't get more accurate gps coordinates, but for stalker prevention, that's probably in our best interest - and it's actually what makes me feel comfortable posting it. We're not in East L.A....but close enough!
PS: the birds have flown away and now I have empty nest syndrome.

Barb and Joe from RV Networking stopped by today to drop off our new satellite internet dish/modem, and give us a lesson on how to set it up. Barb and Joe were very thorough and made it all very easy. We did a speed test at 2wire.com and clocked in at 604.4 Kbps. (this post was done via satellite)

These pictures show the progress from very baby bird to now.
It looks like they're going to fly the nest this week.

Today Ronnie and I put together a Target shade tent that was donated to the cause by my buddy Aaron. It didn't look all that bad once it was put together (took us 20 minutes) but it has about 50 pieces and the material is ripping at the seams. I don't think this will hold up very well under repeated use, so it won't be coming with us on the road. Thanks for nothin' Aaron.
This is the pile of stuff that we're taking with us. We've pretty much given everything we have to goodwill except the few things we're going to store.
We're going to check on the progress Friday - really it's hard not to go over there every day!
I'm in love with these 4 little birds that just hatched in the eves of the front porch.
We dropped off the linoleum at Iowa Boys today. Saw the wood stain color - it looks GREAT. We learned that we're getting a louvered window with privacy glass installed to the left of the trailer entrance - it's for the bathroom, I'm very happy about that!
There were a couple things (the stove and faucet handles) that need to be exchanged - but otherwise things are really progressing.
Sue emailed us some "trunk" options today (she propped some doors up against the back of our trailer) we picked this one pictured to the left. The paint will be stripped and it will be shiny aluminum. The door will give us access to storage space under the bed.
We also just went through a 3 day hassle trying to order the linoleum we picked out. The kind we like comes in two types of backings, vinyl and felt. The places we were talking to said they could only get the vinyl, which was more expensive and required "heat welding." Anyway - after some persistence, we got what we wanted for the price we wanted and for pickup tomorrow. Sigh.
Leigh discovered that the truck needed a pair of these beauties yesterday... otherwise we would have quickly destroyed the front of the trailer by pulling it down some gravel road! phew!
Today we met with Wayne and Sue to discuss the electrical. While I was there, I took this picture of the backside of a rivet - it kind of reminds me of the eyelets at Paper Source.
