This morning Dale the RV Repair guy came, and he helped us isolate the problem some more. We had power going into our inverter but not coming out.
I went to a coffee shop to work while Brian worked on the inverter problem. He called Xantrex support and was referred to a local repair place called The One Stop Cop Shop (they service and install the electrical systems for RV's, cop cars and fire trucks). He had to drive there because their phone was busy. The owner confirmed that our problem is definitely due to not having a transfer switch installed. Meanwhile to get us up and running off of shore power, he told Brian to disconnect the positive power supply into the inverter until it completely drained of all power. It worked.
Tomorrow AM, we're bringing the trailer in to have the entire electrical system evaluated and to get that GD transfer switch.

With all the unforeseen delays you've run into already, there's at least a cautionary tale of a book in the making to say nothing of a screenplay option, a reality series, and fully poseable action figures. (With the Kung-Fu grip, of course.)

i vote for action figure: equipped with a voltage detector for obvious reasons, a bankroll for going to the casino, rubber gloves for pulling TP from the toilet and a hooked pinky for high-altitude/dry weather nose picking (is that too gross?)

i guess you have issues with me being that i have not heard from you. if you read the manual it states that
the invertor has a 30 amp transfer switch built into the
unit. if you should find that you truely need a transfer switch i have a fifty amp switch i can send you. the invertor switched ok when it was here. i am truely sorry that you have had problems.
